Lada or as it was previously know AvtoVaz started producing cars in 1970.

Their first models were based on Fiat 124 modified and made under licence in their plant in Tolyati on the bank of Volga river. 

Since the fall of communism Lada barely managed to keep going and in 2016 Renault-Nissan had bought the factory out and started production of their own models.
